MeOnMap is a service provided by Chronolog that presents in real time the location of participants on the event map, during the event.
Friends, family and social network will be able to easily track your progress online.
To use this service, the athlete must go through the following steps:
-
install on an Android smartphone the ChronologMeOnMap app
-
activate GPS and data (and keep it active during the race)
-
before the start, “run” the app (can be activated it anytime, even 1hr prior to start)
-
type in the app the numeric code that will be sent by email to all athletes
-
carry the phone during the event
The app has minimum requirements from phone battery and GSM data. It uses the internet to transmit location coordinates (less than 0,3MB/hr). Location broadcasting will stop as soon as the athlete reaches the finish line.
Athletes can share the URL of the map with friends, family and social network.
This application is very usefull and offers a great service to endurance events of many hours, off road events like trail running or MTB. It is a great tool for information as well as safety since interested parties can track the location of the athlete at all times (as long as there is even a basic GSM network coverage). The map presenting the location is accessible online on a web page that can be easily shared or seen on a mobile device.
Available on Google Play.
